USSLDC PLAYER TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

1.  For directions to the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course from Lambert International Airport or if you are driving to the venue please use an online source such as Mapquest.  The golf course and hotel (Wingate 32 Research Park Circle, St. Charles, MO 63304) are adjacent to each other and are approximately 30 minutes from the airport.

2. Missouri Bluffs is a spikeless facility. However, metal spikes are allowed in the practice and competition areas only.  The facility does have a dress code and we will of course honor it. No denim or cutoffs are allowed. Shirts with collars along with appropriate golf shorts or trousers are fine. For the Saturday night dinner jeans are OK. The golf course will be open for member and guest play throughout the time we are having the competition, please keep this mind. Any actions or use of language unbecoming of a professional may result in disqualification from the competition.

3. There are some space limitations with the practice/warm-up areas and those areas will be limited to the division currently competing. Bring an iron or two to help you with your warm-up. As soon as possible, the next division will get access. Your cooperation will be helpful to allow each player sufficient time and space to get ready to compete.

4.
The competition grid has some slope and is generally uphill in the landing areas (the last 100 yards of the grid). There are no objections to walking the grid prior to the competition. We plan on a 50-55 yard width for the grid and the target area will be well framed.  From the competition tee the golf club tells us the wind is generally right to left (equally with or against the player) or into the player. Wind speeds are generally modest; of course there are no guarantees here.

5. Practice balls are sold in the golf shop (No metal spikes). The prices are $5 for 30 balls and $10 for 75 balls. The practice balls are of good quality. Restroom facilities are nearby the practice and competition areas.

6. We have bottles of water in coolers and fresh fruit/produce available for Saturday and Sunday. There will be a cash bar for the dinner on Saturday night.  The dinner will be held under the pavilion from 5:30 – 6:30 pm and is being provided by Shamrock’s Bar and Grill.

One more change.  Seniors, GC, Masters, Majestics will hit their finals Saturday night under the lights.

Sunday SS and Legends will hit thru finals and get prize money right after.  Starting with SS then Legends we should be done by 2pm.   I apologize for any inconvenience, but it doesn't make sense to wait 5 hours for finals on Sunday night when some can go home or take in St Louis. If you have any questions,  give me a call.

07-11-2016

List of entries to date:
Mike Gorton, Eddie Fernandes, Carl Taylor, Daniel Fournier, Al Dobson, Brian Stucky, David Brinker Damon Doan, Steve Clement, Ray Hupp, George Moisoff,

New format:  Round 1: 3 sets of 6 balls with 2 longest drives of each set advancing to Round 2.  Round 2:  2 sets with 2 longest balls of each set advancing to Round 3.
Round 3 finals will be a double elimination of the final 4.  All four will hit at same time with two advancing to winners bracket. Two winners hit with loser going to loser bracket. Three hit in the loser bracket with one winner.  Winner of loser bracket will then have to out drive the person in the winners bracket twice to win championship.

Subject: Lights for the United States Senior Long Drive Championship

Jeremy:

Great to talk with you yesterday.  We are delighted that your Company KAI will be sponsoring the lighting for the United States Senior Long Drive Championships on September 10th and 11th, 2016.  As mentioned, I think 3 light towers will be sufficient.  I believe you told me they would reach 30 feet high.  We will need two towers down in "the grid" and one behind the tee box area.  We can discuss specifics the closer we get to the event.

Also, we would like to recognize your company on the United States Senior Long Drive Championship website. If you have any specific information, please provide it to me at your convenience and we will get it loaded on the site.

Thanks again.

Everyone:

As Sam's email mentions,  the United States Senior Long Drive Championship is moving to a new location in St. Louis.  The Missouri Bluffs Golf Club has agreed to have the event at their wonderful facility located at 18 Research Park Circle in St. Charles, MO a suburb of St. Louis.  The event, is being held in September which should provide for some wonderful weather.

In addition to the long drive event, if you would like to play golf on their championship 18 hole golf course, we can help set that up at reduced rates.  There are many things to do in St. Louis.  If you are looking for family events, our zoo is nationally known and is FREE to the public.  Also, the St. Louis Arch, History Museum, Art Museum, Jewel Box, Botanical Gardens, Six Flags, Shopping and Fabulous Restaurants await your arrival.  If you like visiting wineries, Missouri has some great wineries within 30 minutes of the venue.

Also, we are in discussion with the Wingate Hotel which neighbors the golf club to get discount rates for the weekend.  If you like to visit Casinos, St. Louis has 4 Casinos in the area.

We look forward to seeing you and your families in St. Louis in September.

When

December 5-6 2015

Where

Tee it up Golf
17002 I-45 north
Houston Texas 77090

What

Longdrive competition USSLD

Seniors 45-50
Super Seniors 50-55
Grand Champions 55-60
Legends 60-65
Masters 65 and up

Entry fee

325.00 dollars U.S.

Why

Because we can still go long ..!!!

Format

Everyone hits 3 rounds of 6 balls in their respective division competition. Based on number of competitors the field will be trimmed with those remaining hitting 2 rounds of 6 balls to determine the final group to hit for trophy and prize money

This is the same format used in June in Decatur and will be used for all divisions

Trophy and checks to be awarded immediately following final for each group...

Minimum per age bracket - 8 paid entries
Maximum per age bracket - 24 paid entries but will accommodate if needed.

Funds need to be collected no later than November 15 , 2015 so I can set the divisions and order the trophies .

If a division does not make the minimum number of hitters , you can opt to hit in the next division down from yours , be refunded , or if all agree in the division- hit a limited field with the understanding that your payout will reflect the number of hitters .

So the more guys the higher the pay and number of places in the final groups

This event is intended as a startup event for Houston with a good outlook for another in the spring. Those that talked about holding the same type of event in their respective parts of the U.S. ,,, this is the time to get on board and get it going for us older guys .

If there is an interest ,, I will even open up to the ladies if you guys wish !!

Thanks

I watched Jeff Elliott's movie about his son's ordeal last night.  Very inspirational and entertaining.  Movie can be rented or purchased on Amazon.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen

This is where we are and what we are trying to accomplish.  We have secured both grids in Mesquite.  We have secured lights, bleachers, signage, tents,  food service, all with the City of Mesquites blessing.  We have secured GolfFest as an added bonus to attract more Golf fans which will hopefully translate into more Long Drive fans.  GolfFest is committed and will advertise and promote Golfest and the Global LD Championships.  GolfFest has also committed to 3 additional events as an added attraction to help promote LD.  Detailed information on these future events will be released after the Global Championships.  I am also working with the Mesquite hotel casinos to get you the best rates possible on rooms, etc.

This is a heavy undertaking for me and others that are helping me to put together a World Class event for World Class Long Drivers,  I am not pretending to be the LDA.  I am just another LDer that wants to give other LDers an alternative place to show their skills and compete on a World Class level.  But, I cannot do that without your help.  I need LDers to commit to this event so it can happen.  The sign ups have been lackluster at best.  Whatever the reason please commit to this event now so we can hopefully salvage the year with a World Class event you can be proud of.

I have committed many hours, meetings and money to get you the best possible venue in the World.  We can DO this but we need your help NOW so it can be a showplace for your talents and grow from there.  Together we can put Pro Long Drive on the map again,  I believe that or I wouldn't be involved in this venture.  I will not let you down.  Promise.
