Play this song and feel what Pam, Jo Jo and myself felt when Gunner passed away. It is so very sad, but beautiful!

During the 2020 Pandemic Pam, Gunner, Jo Jo and I listened to this song constantly.
My heart hurts each time I hear this song. We miss Gunner so much even today.....

The last time we held you

Today, November 3, 2020, We held you for the last time. You rested gently in our arms, just like you always have, but this time felt different. This time, we knew it was saying goodbye.

We looked into your eyes, those same eyes that have watched us grow, that have seen us at our best and our worst, and we saw the love you've always given us unconditional, unwavering, and pure. But we also saw the pain, the tiredness, the weight of the years that have finally caught up to you.

We whispered to you, hoping you could understand, hoping you could feel how much you mean to us. We told you it was okay to let go, even though every part of us wanted to hold on forever. We thanked you for the joy you brought into our life, for the way you made even the hardest days feel a little brighter.

You were more than a dog. You were our friend, our traveling partner, our confidant, our family. You were there for every milestone, every heartbreak, every quiet moment in between. You never asked for much, just a scratch behind the ears, a warm place to sleep, and the occasional treat. But you gave us everything in return. We took you to McDonald's for sausage biscuit you loved so much, and then for a long ride you always enjoyed so much, before taking you to the veterinarian.

As the vet prepared the injection, we held you tighter, trying to memorize the feel of your fur, the sound of your breathing, the way your tail would wag even when you were too tired to stand. We wanted to freeze that moment, to keep you with us just a little longer. But we knew it wasn't fair. You've given us so much, and now it was our turn to give you peace.

When it was over, we stayed with you, our tears falling onto your still body. We hope you knew, in those final moments, how deeply you were loved. We hope you felt the gratitude, the sorrow, the endless love that filled our hearts as we said goodbye.

You were our best friend, our loyal companion, and a piece of our soul. And though you're gone, you'll never truly leave us. We'll carry you with us, in our hearts, in our memories, in every quiet moment when we wish you were still here.

Rest easy, our beloved sweet Leon Gunner

We will love you. Always.
