A Love Story Ann Darrow is a struggling actress who lost her job when her studio went bankrupt in the Great Depression. She eventually accepted an actress job on a dangerous ocean cruise which eventually leads to the undiscovered Skull Island during a storm and dense fog. King Kong is a giant gorilla, over 100 years old and over 25 feet tall, who resides on Skull Island. Skull Island is a lost and undiscovered island where prehistoric monsters and primitive humans still live. King Kong learns to eventually communicate, and have valued social interactions will Ann. King Kong is not the monster villain he's portrayed to be. Instead, he is a hero type and a lonely figure who feels affection for the first time after rescuing Ann from the prehistoric dinosaurs and other monsters that reside on Skull Island. Ann was captured by the Skull Island natives and Kong was offered Ann as a sacrificial gift, but Kong is stymied by her beauty, and protects Ann, and eventually becomes in love with her. Kong is the last of his species, and wants a close friend relationship so badly. This deeper relationship is established throughout several scenes in the videos. The first scene below, is after Kong has saved Ann from Island dinosaurs and has taken Ann to the safety of his mountain cave home. Kong treats her as more of a plaything, a toy. He doesn't try to rip off her clothes or fondle her. He playfully pushes her over and over again whenever she stands up. Ann, who is performing actress, clown and comedienne, eventually dances and does tricks to amuse and distract him. This was the beginning of special relationship and bond between Ann and Kong. Ann starts to understand and identify with Kong, seeing him as an isolated and lonely creature. Ann stops becoming a victim in that moment and Kong becomes something she empathizes with. Kong is curious about her, he wants to protect her because he cares about her and she has touched his heart and soul. After saving her life, they sit by a cliff and watch a beautiful jungle sunset. Ann puts her hand to her heart, showing that sharing this tender moment with him moves her. Kong offers his hand to Ann, and she lovingly sits in it as they stare at the sunset. Ann feels safe and eventually falls asleep in his hand. Ann is incredibly upset when Kong is eventually captured and unjustly taken from his Island home and bought to the United States. While in New York, Kong is put on a theatre stage and sold as "King Kong - The Eighth Wonder Of The World" and forced to entertain. Kong rebels, escapes and causes mass destruction. Kong and Ann share another tender moment on an ice-skating rink after he escapes the theatre. Kong sought Ann out and found her after escaping, and Ann willingly returned his affection with compassion and love. The famous finale on top of the Empire State Building shows Ann pleading and heartbroken that Kong is being attacked and will eventually be killed by the US military. Kong and Ann share an extremely incredible loving final look as Kong holds his final gaze on her. He gives one last look at not just a beautiful girl, but the one person in the world that he cared about, and who cared about him. The three video scenes on this web site show the extrodinary love and caring that Ann and King Kong share for each other before Kong's tragic ending on the Empire State Building. The 3rd video below broke the hearts of millions. The 4th video is a preview of the 2005 King Kong.. The 1933 King Kong was my favorite movie as a kid. The 2005 King Kong movie was even better. View the three short video clips below that will put a large lump in your throat and tears in your eyes. The final scene shows Kong being shot numerous times on top of the Empire State Building and sadly dying before Ann, and then falling from the building. The final quote ending the movie was by Carl Denham, the cynical film-maker who captured Kong on Skull Island, says this: "Oh no, it wasn't the airplanes. It was beauty that killed the beast."
