DAVY CROCKETT - KING OF THE WILD FRONTIER

David Crockett was born on August 17, 1786 in Greene County, Tennessee. His early childhood was hard living in the wilderness of Tennessee. His family was poor and he had to hunt for food to provide for himself and his family.

Davy Crockett was a very interesting person and demonstrated the characteristics of an American folk hero because he worked hard, fought for his country and helped other people, especially the poor as he demostrated as a politician.

Some interesting facts about his life are:
He Killed 105 Bears in Less Than a Year as a hunter
He was the Best Shot in Tennessee
His Death at the Alamo during the Texas Revolution Made Him a Legendary hero.
There are Many Books, Songs, TV Shows, and Movies About His interesting Life. Especially the Disney Series in 1954 that made him a true legend.

Davy Crockett's major life accomplishments were that he was a Tennessee Frontiersman, a Colonel in the Tennessee Militia, an Indiana fighter, served his country as a Tennessee State Legislator and a representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, fought in the Texas Revolution and died in combat at the Alamo.

Although he had served with Andrew Jackson and helped save his life once in an assasination attempt, he did not like his decisions on the Indian Removal Act. Crockett tried to help the Indians and the poor as a politician. After serving 6 years as a politician he headed west to help in the Texas Revolution.

Davy Crockett is a true hero because he fought in the Texas Revolution and died March 6, 1836 at the Alamo for what he thought was right for freedom and for Texas. The story of his Frontier life and valiant death inspires people to this day to continue to fight for what they believe is right..
