Villegas, 24, has played his way into professional golf, which is no small accomplishment. The big goal is to win on the PGA Tour. Which is just a matter of time.
Villegas is one of the Tour's most promising young players. At the FBR Open near Phoenix earlier this month, he posted four rounds in the 60s. He finished second in that event.
"Any time Spiderman putts well he has a chance to win.
Villegas is from soccer-mad Colombia, which has only 50 golf courses.
"Golf is a small sport," Villegas says. "It's all about soccer down there, and that's the reality of it."
Villegas took up the game because his father belonged to one of those 50 clubs. He was a world-class amateur recruited to Florida by Alexander.
