A three-time All-American (1993-95), Cink was awarded the 1995 Dave Williams Award, Fred Haskins Award and Jack Nicklaus Award as the country's top collegiate golfer while attending Georgia Tech. He is a member of East Lake Golf Club, site of the 1998 and 2000 TOUR Championship. Cink learned to play on a driving range before he was old enough for his parents to bring him to a golf course ... In college he was a three-time NCAA division I All-American (1993, 1994 and 1995), and was a husband and father by the time he graduated ...  He earned his Nike Tour card at the end of 1995 and was Nike Player of the Year in 1996, winning three times Cink was Rookie of the Year on the PGA Tour in 1997, winning the Canon Greater Hartford Open ... He was the second rookie to exceed $800,000 in earnings (David Duval was the first) ... Posted four top-10 finishes through March to open the 2000 season … Made 22 of 29 cuts in 2001, finishing among the top-10 six times and top-25 14 times … Named to the 2001 Ryder Cup team. |
